Bio:

Patty Neal is a contemporary painter who, from an early age, listed art as a chief passion. Her mother was a painter, and Patty learned about oil paints by watching her paint, posing for her, painting with her and on occasion, accompanying her to an art class.
Other than what she learned from her mother, Patty is self-taught.
She moved to NYC in 1975, and for many years earned a living in art production at The Village Voice, Rolling Stone and Esquire Magazine. She also illustrated for The Village Voice and Savvy Magazine. During this time, she studied modern dance with Merce Cunningham and performed professionally with a few dance companies over a six year period. She continued to paint through these years.
In 1987, Patty moved to San Francisco with her husband and young daughter. She took a studio at Hunters Point Naval Shipyard where she painted and showed her work for 22 years. She developed a group of devoted collectors at the Shipyard's Open Studios, held twice a year. However, she always missed the vibrancy of NYC and, in 2009, was able to move back.
Patty now works out of her home studio in Brooklyn. She has been showing at The Carrie Haddad Gallery in Hudson, NY since 2011 and her paintings appear in numerous collections in the U.S. and Europe.
